The first match between Alaska and Alberta was very competitive, but Alaska held a small lead throughout the match winning 25/7.  Then Alaska seemed to lose their edge in the second game, becoming a little shakey and losing 14/25.

With the crowd on the edges of their seats, Team Alaska got their mojo back in the critical third match taking Alberta 15/9 to win the Gold Ulu.

According to coach Judy Knecht, the Team Alaska women were playing for their orginal Arctic Winter Games coach Liz Hooe who was dignosed with ovarian cancer two months ago and was not able to make the games.  The Alaska players all sported pink ribbons in their hair to recognize Hooe and the cause of womens' health.
