Alaska Biathletes hit the mark - Ski and Snowshoe Biathlon

Ray Wonders of Anchorage captures the Gold Ulu in the Junior Mens' 7.5km Individual Ski Biathlon competition. Wonder says he was "Really pleased with his performance. I had heard the Russians were very good and tough to beat." The Russians proved excellent competitors, but Wonders came out on top. Wonder's sister Mackenzie won a Silver in the Snowshoe Biathlon and his brother Hunter won a Bronze in the Snowshoe Biathlon (see below) - for three Ulus for this family of skilled marksmen today!
Competitors skied five laps of the course for a total of 7.5km. Between each 1.5km lap they shot targets in the range alternating prone and standing positions. Team Alaska's Emerson Congers of Nome took forth place.
Wonders was not the only Team Alaska Ski Biathlete to excel at today's competition at the Wapiti Nordic Ski Center. In the Junior Womens' competition, Sarah Cresap of Anchorage won a Bronze Ulu and Sierra Corsetti of Unalakleet took fourth place.
Tanner Ramey of Anchorage earned a Bronze Ulu in the Juvenile Mens' 5km competition, while Conner Trustkowski took seventh.
In the Juvenile Womens' 5km Ski Biathlon Alaina Prince took fourth place and Zoey Grenier took sixth.

Snowshoe Biathlon
Team Alaska's James Watkins took the Silver Ulu in the Junior Male 5km Individual Snowshoe Biathlon. Cy Conrad of Tanana took fourth.
Stephanie Dow of Anchorage won the Gold Ulu in the Junior Female 5km Snowshoe Biathlon beating out her teamate Mackenzie Wonders who earned the Silver Ulu.
In the Juvenile Male division 3km Snowshoe Biathlon, Asa Bergamaschi of White Mountain took the Silver Ulu for Team Alaska while Hunter Wonders took the Bronze Ulu.
Miranda Murphy of Nome secured the Silver Ulu in the Juvenile Female competition. Zoe Xavier of Anchorage earned a Bronze Ulu for her performance.
